Applications are now open for Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector Research Grants Round 2022 for research projects that continue to build the evidence base underpinning the Act and support defined entities to fulfill their obligations.
The purpose of these grants is to fund high-quality research that supports the Commission’s work and the ability of the defined entities to drive gender equality in their organizations and communities.
Focus Areas
- The Commission has identified five key areas of focus for this grants round:
- Aboriginal women’s experiences in Victorian public sector workplaces
- experiences of women with disability in Victorian public sector workplaces
- gendered experiences within Victorian public sector workplaces in rural locations
- how pregnancy, parenting, and/or caring impact organizational gender equality in the public sector
- experiences of women from non-English speaking backgrounds in Victorian public sector workplaces
Funding Information
- Grants of up to $60,000 are available to fund high-quality research projects that support the Commission’s work.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for research grant funding through CGEPS, you must be either:
- A not-for-profit entity—which you must be able to validate by showing your organization is:
- Registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission; or
- Registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria as an incorporated association; or
- Registered under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) or the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (Vic).
- An Australian University.
- A public sector body as defined in Section 4 of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic).
- A not-for-profit entity—which you must be able to validate by showing your organization is:
- All applicant organizations must have:
- A current Australian Business Number (ABN)
- No overdue reports from previous Fairer Victoria funded grants
- Sole traders are ineligible to apply.
Criteria
- Provided your application meets the eligibility criteria, your application will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Project quality, viability, and alignment with the goals and values of the Act and the Commission:
- Your application must:
- address how the project aligns with one of the research priorities identified in this grant guidelines document
- indicate how the project’s research focus continues to build the evidence base underpinning the Act and supports defined entities to fulfill their obligations.
- Your application must:
- The project must be well conceived, feasible, and support progress towards gender equality in Victoria as linked to the Act and/or the work of the Commission.
- Your application must identify a clear research question(s) and detail a cohesive project design in response.
- Your application must demonstrate an awareness of the core principles of the Act and the role of the Commission and Commissioner, and it must align with the publicly stated goals and values of the above.
- The project must apply a gender lens in its approach, and address relevant questions of intersectionality, as feasible and applicable to your proposed project.
- Project quality, viability, and alignment with the goals and values of the Act and the Commission:
- Applicant team track record and capability:
- Your team in combination must demonstrate the relevant expertise to successfully execute your proposed project.
- A member or members of your team must demonstrate gender equality expertise relevant to your proposed project focus.
- Your team must demonstrate expertise in the proposed research approach to ensure project feasibility.
- Appropriateness of the proposed budget:
- Your project must represent value for money and be cost-effective in its approach.
- Project costs must be accurate, reasonable, and justified in the context of the research project, its methods, and the capacity of the applicant organization (s).
- Team composition and commitment to organizational gender equality:
- Intra-team diversity and evidence of the team’s commitment to equality will be viewed favorably.
- A demonstrated organizational commitment to progress towards gender equality, or an indication of how this might be initiated within the organization, will be viewed favorably.
- Applications that provide professional development opportunities to junior team members will be viewed favorably.
