Deadline: 10-Jul-23
Community groups can apply for exemption from match-funding for Community Infrastructure Grants.
Funding Information
- The maximum amount of a Community Infrastructure Grant is $350,000 for capital works and $50,000 for planning.
Eligibility Criteria
- The purpose of match-funding is to ensure that applications for Community Infrastructure Grants are viable and provide evidence of the applicant’s commitment to finalising the project. However, under certain circumstances, community groups can apply for an exemption from this requirement.
Applying for an Exemption
- Applicants requesting a full or partial exemption from match-funding must apply via their SmartyGrants online system.
- To apply for a match-funding exemption, you must:
- describe the project and estimate the total cost
- explain why you cannot contribute the required funds
- say how much you can contribute (if any)
- provide financial statements for the last three years* and
- address the assessment criteria
- Note: Financial statements must include an Income and Expenditure Statement and Balance Sheet for each of three previous years.
Assessment
- All applications received will go through the following assessment process:
- Pre-eligibility check – applications will be checked to make sure the proposed project meets the Community Infrastructure Grant guidelines and will not be used to operate electronic gaming machines.
- Financial capacity check – applications are assessed to determine whether the applicant has the capacity to match-fund in full. Applications will only proceed to suitability checks if they pass this review.
- Suitability check – if the applicant is unable to meet the match-funding requirement, their request will be assessed using the remaining criteria
- Assessment of additional factors – in some cases, applications may be given a higher or lower priority due to other factors, such as:
- whether the recipient organisation receives revenue from electronic gaming machines (these applications will be given a lower priority)
- other factors not defined in these criteria, such as the importance of the facility to the community, the size of the funding request and the responsibility of owners or national/peak bodies for local assets.
