Australia: Nature-based Learning Grant

The Cairns Regional Council is now inviting applications for its Nature-based Learning Grant to provide funding for environmentally focussed excursions.

Funding Information

Grant Amount: up to $2,000 per school
Applicable Period: excursions ar eto be completed within twelve months of the approval date

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applications must:
- Be for a school based within the boundaries of the Cairns Regional Council
- List the parents / school’s financial contribution toward excursion costs
- Provide evidence of activity costs, including quotes
- Provide evidence of adhering to the school’s risk management procedures
Applications must Not be for:
- a school with Council grants that have not been acquitted satisfactorily;
- a school with overdue payments to Council;
- request funding retrospectively; or
- request support for general operating costs, catering or staff wages.
Examples of Eligible Excursions:
- National Parks / Marine Parks / Great Barrier Reef
- Sustainable Agriculture farms / Community Gardens
- Wildlife Parks / Environmental Education Centres
- Habitat restoration / tree planting sites
- Waste / Recycling and Water / Wastewater facilities
- Bus hire for nature-based excursions
