The Edward M. Kennedy Center is now accepting applications for the Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Small Grant 2022. This grant is awarded to individuals or organizations that address socio-economic issues to their core and offer innovative solutions. The theme for the applications is “Revival of Communities after the Pandemic”.
EMK Small Grant is one of the unique innovative grants available in Bangladesh that is awarded to exceptional social changemakers. Awarded by the EMK Center, this funding is provided to ideas or projects that solve complex social problems in distinctive, effective and sustainable ways.
The aim of this grant is to discover and nurture the entrepreneurial minds of the country to promote social innovation and sustainable development.
Areas
Applications in the form of projects should fit into five areas:
- Arts and Culture: Awards in this category will be provided to the promotion of cultural activities during the pandemic.
- Education: Innovative solutions in the education and teaching and learning sector of the country will be awarded in this category.
- Entrepreneurship Development: Scientific and technological product or service development that brought remarkable advancement during the pandemic will be awarded in this section. Discoveries, researches or activities promoting STEM in the country will be given preference.
- Promoting STEM: Entrepreneurial activities by individuals and organizations that are not enterprises itself which introduced significant change in the ecosystem are being sought in this criterion. It will also encompass projects that shows in-depth understanding of a certain fundamental societal problem, and provide world-class solutions through social innovation.
- Youth Employability: The current generation of young people – numbering 1.8 billion – is one-quarter of the world’s population and a dominant force now and in the decades to come.
Eligibility Criteria
Both individual, group applications and applications from non-profit organizations will be accepted. Applicaion from profitable organizations will not be accepted.
- Individuals and Groups: Individuals and groups demonstrating requisite experience and capacity to manage projects are welcome to submit their ideas and applications
- Non-profit organizations: Following entities will be able to apply for the EMK Small Grants 2022:
- Non-profit organizations, projects, entities, public service centers, cultural organizations, community-based organizations, organizations registered as The Trust Act 1882/ Society Registration Act 1860
- Foundations registered under Section 28 of the Companies Act, 1994 and is established for financing Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs)

- For organization: Organization Registration Certificate, Updated Trade License FY:20-21, BIN Certificate, TIN Certificate, Organization Portifolio, Certification from previous donor organization (if any)
