The Black Spatial Relics is currently accepting proposals for the Micro Grants Program for Community Care and Collective Research.
In the midst of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, Black artists have lost crucial financial support for their work. Nevertheless, Black artists and cultural workers are still offering critical artistic and spiritual content toward the collective healing. To support this work already in both imagination and process.
These 10 micro grants will support projects doing one or both of the following:
- Digital gatherings that center community care, affirmation, mutual aid and joy for Black communities in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.
- Collective research efforts centering Black communal and familial inquiry, transmission and documentation.
Funding Information
- Grants range up to $500.00.
Eligibility Criteria
Project proposals from individual artists or from groups are welcome.
Applicants must:
- Live in the United States or Caribbean and be English-speaking;
- Identify as Black and/or be of African descent;
- Be artist(s) engaged in the practice of making performance;
- Individuals, families and collectives are welcome to apply.
- Non-Profit organizations are ineligible to apply.
