The Bureau of International Narcotics-Law Enforcement is pleased to announce applications for Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Sri Lanka.
The mission of the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) is to keep Americans safe by countering crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad. The U.S. Government clearly identified transnational crime as a threat to public safety and national security, and committed through the National Security Strategy to pursue transnational threats to their source.
Project Goals
- The goal of this program is to improve Sri Lanka’s will and capacity to investigate, arrest, prosecute, convict, and sentence to the fullest extent of the law the perpetrators of wildlife crime, with a focus on marine species.
- To achieve this goal, INL seeks to fund programs that will:
- Build investigative and enforcement functions;
- Increase the interdiction of illicit trade;
- Enhance prosecutorial and judicial capacity; and/or
- Develop inter-agency and cross-border regional cooperation.
Project Objectives
INL will prioritize proposals for programs that:
- are unique and groundbreaking;
- include anti-corruption activities;
- combat the criminal organizations that perpetrate wildlife crime.
Funding Information
- Total Funding Available: $500,000 U.S. Dollars
- Application Ceiling: Up to $500,000 U.S. Dollars
- Application Floor: At least $400,000 U.S. Dollars
- Anticipated Number of Awards: 1 award
- Initial Project Implementation Length: 24 months

Eligibility Criteria
- The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- U.S.-based non-profit/non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Foreign-based non-profits/non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Applicants must also meet the following requirements to be eligible to apply to this NOFO:
- Demonstrate compliance with country registration requirements in Sri Lanka, such as proof of registration or the submission of an application for registration.
