CREA Project Strategies
Partnership strategy: Partnership management is one of the strength of MJF. MJF will form three levels of partnership to implement this project -1) strategic partnership with different climate actors, forums and women rights alliance to prevent child marriage and DVAW, 2) local level civil society organizations/NGOs at grassroots level implementations 3) Public and local government authorities to make them responsive towards needs of climate-vulnerable people specially women and girls. This partnership underpins the whole project strategy by leveraging all the different skillsets and eco-regional experiences.
- Community-based, gender-focused strategies: The project prioritizes bringing about changes in social norms and improving the knowledge base on climate change impacts and the importance of adapting for long-term resilience. Climate vulnerable communities, women, and girls cannot achieve visible transformation if they are unaware of climate change impacts. This will create barriers towards women’s participation, decision making, and have their voices heard.
- Integrated livelihood and access to services & resources strategies: Improving economic opportunities and livelihoods to respond to climate variability and change is another area that needs to be achieved. Building community resilience is an integrated approach to address short-, medium- and long-term livelihood adaptation and increasing the resilience of the natural resources that underpin many critical livelihoods.
- Policy advocacy and learning strategies: Long-term resilience of vulnerable communities to respond to climate change cannot be achieved without better governance and policies that incorporate the voices of the most vulnerable people. According to the recent project experience, climate-vulnerable people still lack knowledge about their rights and entitlements. The adaptation plan and climate risk reduction practice and policy need to respond based on gender perspective and include community people’s knowledge, experience, and needs.
