Deadline: 20-May-25
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sri Lanka is pleased to announce an open call for applications for Human Rights Projects under Embassy Funding.
Priorities
- Below are the key human rights priorities of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sri Lanka for 2025/26:
- Freedom of expression, internet freedom and independent journalism
- Freedom of expression is an essential part of a properly functioning democracy and a free society. People in general, and journalists in particular, should be free to express themselves both online and offline. But in many parts of the world freedom of expression is under threat.
- Equal rights for women and girls
- Women are still severely under-represented in politics around the world, including in the Netherlands. They also have fewer economic opportunities than men. And they are more likely to fall victim to violence. Reasons for this include discrimination and the subordinate position women often hold in relation to men.
- Equal rights for LGBTIQ+’s
- Around the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer persons and persons of another gender and sexual orientation (LGBTIQ+) face discrimination and violence. But everyone should have the right to be themselves. It doesn’t matter who you are or whom you love. That is why the Netherlands promotes equal rights for LGBTIQ+ people worldwide.
- Freedom of expression, internet freedom and independent journalism
