The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is seeking applications from single organisation or consortium to conduct research on trends around boys’ school dropout and declining enrolment across primary and junior secondary education in Tanzania and the broader East African region.
Results from this research will be used by the FCDO, by the Government of Tanzania, and other governments and development partners, to inform programming and policy priorities in the education sector in Tanzania and beyond. The delivery partner will be expected to conduct:
- A desk review and robust analysis of existing quantitative and qualitative evidence and data from Tanzania and the wider region to identify key trends in boys’ and girls’ enrolment and drop out across the region;
- Qualitative research with field work to collect data and evidence in Tanzania and a selection of other East African countries to understand and explain the trends identified during the first phase of desk-based research.

- The total budget for the set up and delivery of the service is £120,000.
