The Trusts is inviting applications for the Your West Support Fund to support community initiatives associated with key focus areas and provide support for projects and operating or capital costs.
Focus Areas
- Funding applications must strongly align with at least one of The Trusts key focus areas:
- Improving the lives of young people
- Connected, resilient and thriving communities
- Sustainable environments
- Partnering with Māori and/or supporting Pacific communities (Applicants aligning with this focus area must be a kaupapa Māori or a Pacific-led organisation)
Funding Priorities
- The Trusts will prioritise funding to initiatives that support and/or are led by communities experiencing inequity in the region, including but not limited to:
- Māori
- Pacific
- MELAA ,(Middle Eastern, Latin American and African)
- Refugee-background
- Avondale, Ōwairaka, Henderson, Massey and Rānui
- Priority will also be given to initiatives that:
- Contribute to positive, long-term impact
- Involve collaboration
- Contribute to increased connection and inclusion
Eligible Costs
- Applicants may apply for:
- Programme costs
- Operational costs
- Costs associated with capability building, organisational development or evaluation
- Capital costs
Eligibility Criteria
- To be considered for funding, the applicant must demonstrate its charitable purpose which can be fulfilled if the applicant is listed on the:
- Charities Register
- Charitable Trust Register
- Incorporated Society Register
- Marae
- Statutory Body
- Education Providers
- Umbrella organisations (with charitable status or purpose) acting as fiscal sponsor on behalf of another group, where the initiative for which funding is sought has a charitable purpose.
- Applicants not shown above and limited liability companies that do not have charitable status must clearly articulate the charitable purpose of the initiative for which funding is sought.
Assessment Criteria
- Applications will be assessed using a range of other important criteria, as follows:
- Capacity to deliver (governance, staffing)
- Capacity to deliver (representation of and ability to work with priority communities)
- Evidence of need and/or community consultation/input/voice
- Does not duplicate other services in the region
- Collaboration
- Ability to demonstrate outcomes through evaluation
Exclusions
- The Trusts will not fund:
- Retrospective applications i.e. where the initiative or item being considered for funding has already been completed or purchased
- Initiatives that are outside of The Trusts boundaries
- Applications from sub-groups of entities (such as jubilee committees, men’s, women’s, or junior sections). The main entity or governing body of each organisation must be the applicant
- Industry, commercial or professional network groups
- Promotion of a religious or political message (however, they do fund faith-based community services)
- Corporate social clubs
- School car parks, entrance ways, staff areas and staff equipment
- Alcohol
