The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications for Cervical Cancer through HPV+ Programming to promote Girls’ Empowerment and Protection.
UNICEF is collaborating with the government to implement the rollout of the HPV vaccine while simultaneously promoting broader adolescent health and well-being through its HPV-plus programming. Specifically, UNICEF is leveraging its extensive expertise in health, gender, and related fields to enhance access to HPV vaccination and provide essential services and information to adolescent girls.
The objective is to empower and protect girls aged 9 to 14 years from the risk of cervical cancer, by promoting the uptake of the vaccine among 9-year-old girls through school and community engagement and advancing girls’ leadership, health and well-being through life skills programming

Eligible Activities
- Opportunities created for girls’ empowerment through life skills development, including for SRHR, HPV prevention and leadership Activities
- Training of trainer sessions for selected peer educators or facilitators using the UNICEF adolescent health and leadership guide (AHLG)
- Capacity-building of girls with mentorship skills to support other girls with information on the HPV vaccine and SRHR
- Delivery of life skills education sessions for girls (9-14 years) using the AHLG
- Documentation of feedback from girls on the session to enable improvement of the AHLG
- Collecting and submitting community feedback from girls and caregivers on a monthly basis Key indicator
- Number of teachers/facilitators trained on adolescent health and the HPV vaccine
- Number of girls training as peer mentors to support other girls with information on HPV and SRHR
