The Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) has announced a Call for Projects for Media Grants 2020 to ensure the active participation of the media in advocacy initiatives, in order to develop a new approach to environmental issues in the media environment; introduction of environmental issues into the daily media scheme, creation of multimedia content on environmental issues that will encourage citizens to get involved in solving local issues, creation of educational tools and promotional material that will properly show the coexistence of man and nature.
An additional goal of this grant is to develop the best possible cooperation between the media and CSOs in order to jointly participate in advocacy activities and improve environmental protection.
“Think of Nature! Is a three-year project implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD), and financially supported by Sweden in the amount of 3 million convertible marks. The project is based on 5 components (Advocacy Networks, Eco HUBs, Eco Schools, Youth, Eco Media).
Media coverage of environmental issues is being improved during the implementation of the Thoughts on Nature project! Through a systematic approach to the media, journalists, but also to solving the challenges they face when working on media content in the field of environmental protection.
CPCD provides administrative, professional and advisory support to media grant beneficiaries during project implementation.
Through their project activities, the media will:
- Develop and publish multimedia content on current issues of environmental protection and coexistence with nature;
- Indicate key environmental problems and present measures to solve them;
- Promote expert analysis of environmental issues before populist or political analysis;
- Promote examples of good practice in environmental protection of companies in BiH;
- Develop educational content for children and youth;
- Ensure the voice of the professional public in the media space;
- Design and run campaigns that will be focused on a long-term solution to environmental problems and that will be gender sensitive and gender inclusive.
Funding Information
- The total amount of the grant at this stage: 50,000 KM
- Maximum number of grants to be approved: 5
- Maximum amount of funds per approved grant: Up to 10,000 KM
- Duration of project implementation: From 6 to 10 months
General Provisions
One of the criteria for awarding grants is respect for gender equality through the implementation of project activities, ie equal participation of women and men in the implementation of the project. When awarding grants, the CPCD will follow the following principles:
- Nationality: all applicants must be local, BiH organizations;
- Equality: the grant award process is completely impartial, which means that all applicants will be selected by the election commission, in accordance with the published criteria;
- Non-overlap: CPCD will have a flexible approach and ensure complementarity in the implementation of the Thoughts on Nature project! However, applications that have significant overlap with existing projects will not be considered;
- Principle of (non) retroactivity: grants will only cover costs incurred during the approved project implementation period. Any cost incurred outside the implementation period will be considered an ineligible cost.
Who can apply
- Grants are intended for domestic media organizations of civil society or media companies that are registered in accordance with the positive legal regulations of BiH. In this category, partnership with other civil society organizations and other media is also possible. It is necessary for the media to have experience in the implementation of similar projects in the same or similar field of activity and experience in managing projects of the same or similar scope.
Eligibility Criteria
The condition for applicants is that they meet one of the following criteria:
- To be registered in accordance with the positive legal regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an association or foundation;
- To achieve the statutory goals in the area of public interest which is the subject of the public call
