The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for Tunisian NGOs to support community initiatives that will raise awareness and contribute to the resolution of environmental problems that occur at the local level while ensuring a strong involvement of young people and women.
This fifth call for projects is a continuation of support for Tunisian associations and grassroots community organizations (GDA/SMSA) legally registered in Tunisia. Young associations and GDAs/ SMSAs are encouraged to participate in this call for projects.
During its 6th operational phase (OP6), the SGP has set itself the objective of supporting the creation of global environmental benefits and the safeguarding of the global environment through community and local solutions that complement and add value to the national and global action.
Funding Information
- Grantmaking under this Call for Projects will follow the GEF SGP Operational Guidelines, and the maximum grant amount for each project must not exceed the limit of USD 50,000.
- The average funding being 25,000 USD, the funding ceiling will only be granted to projects with a significant and confirmed scope.
Duration: The maximum duration of each project is 12 months.
Eligible Projects
The projects expected under this call will have to propose initiatives related to:
- Promoting environmental culture
- The implementation of concrete action on the ground for the fight against relevant and identified environmental problems (climate change, water management, illegal fishing, soil degradation, sustainable agriculture, management of chemicals and pesticides, sustainable forest management, protection of endangered ecosystems and species, sustainable urban solutions, etc.)
- the promotion of learning, training and the enhancement of traditional know-how that respects the environment
- The development of climate-resilient value chains
- Support for the development of start-ups working in the field of agriculture or the environment
- Promoting sustainable blue economy models
- The contribution to the preservation of species threatened with extinction or the enhancement of non-native species.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations eligible to submit:
- Associations under Tunisian law
- Agricultural Development Groups (GDA)
- Mutual Agricultural Service Companies (SMSA
- Project proposals must:
- Be submitted by an association or GDA/SMSA under Tunisian law
- Be related to the objectives of the call.
- Rely on community participation when designing, implementing and evaluating projects;
- Be implemented in the landscapes specified as part of this call for projects
- Consider the gender approach and involve young people;
- Have a clear and concrete impact on communities and on the conservation of landscapes
- Contribute with in-kind and cash co-financing
- Be completed within a maximum of 12 months.
