Deadline: 28-Feb-22
The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is pleased to launch a call for proposals to support the efforts of women human rights defenders and feminist organizations to advance an enabling civic space for feminist action in all its diversity.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy of ensuring that Generation Equality Forum’s (GEF) Action Coalition 6 on “Feminist Leadership and Movements” delivers on its transformative impact.
ICNL is inviting proposals that contribute to the realization of Action Coalition Commitments on “Feminist movements and leadership” by supporting capacity strengthening and advocacy efforts for the protection of women’s rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association at the national/subnational and community level.
Illustrative activities include:
- Developing new tools, strategies, activities, and alliances to advocate for greater protections of women’s rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, online and offline.
- Conducting roundtables, seminars, or informational campaigns to formulate civil society strategies and raise awareness of barriers and threats facing women-led and feminist organizations and movements.
- Document developments in legislation affecting the exercise of the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association by women and girls; developing legal analyses, white papers, and policy briefs; and proposing legal and policy recommendations to protect civic space for feminist action.
- Developing trainings and other activities to enhance the knowledge of in-country legal experts and civil society leaders on international human rights norms and standards related to gender equality and women’s rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.
- Providing technical assistance to civil society, government officials, and other partners to develop and implement intersectional feminist principles, practices, approaches, and leadership in their work and projects.
ICNL is particularly interested in proposals that:
- Specifically seek to advance Generation Equality Forum’s Action Coalition on “Feminist Movements and Leadership”.
- Rely on international human rights norms and standards as the basis for advocacy and/or informational training tools for national or sub-national use, including the thematic reports of the UN Special Rapporteur on Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, Clement Voule.
- Include an intersectional analysis of barriers, threats and impacts facing women human rights defenders and feminist organizations, including those affecting different women, based on their age, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other characteristics.
