Call for proposals are now open for European Commission’s Nature Governance Programme.
Scope
- The present Call topic targets Standard Action Projects (SAP) aimed at achieving the objectives of the LIFE Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme by improving governance at all levels.
- This call topic focuses exclusively on governance projects; other projects in line with the objectives of the LIFE Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme.
Objectives
To contribute to the protection of nature and biodiversity by:
- Supporting nature and biodiversity policy and legislation compliance assurance, and/or
- Promoting effective public participation and access to justice in nature and biodiversity policy and legislation-related matters.

- The available call budget is EUR 135 470 000.
- Nature and Biodiversity: EUR 132 470 000
- Nature Governance: EUR 3 000 000
- Indicative range of project budgets:
- Nature and Biodiversity: EUR 2-13 Mln
- Nature Governance: EUR 0.7-2 Mln
- Estimated number of projects to be funded:
- Nature and Biodiversity: 35 projects
- Nature Governance: 2 Projects
Expected Impact
Applicants are expected to define, calculate, explain and achieve ambitious and credible impacts in terms of conservation benefit, ensuring at the same time long term sustainability and replication.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible, the applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must:
- be legal entities (public or private bodies)
- be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:
- EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs))
- non-EU countries:
- listed EEA countries and countries associated to the LIFE Programme (participating countries) or countries which are in ongoing negotiations for an association agreement and where the agreement enters into force before grant signature
- the coordinator must be established in an eligible country
