Deadline: 18-Jul-25
The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has announced a new call for proposals under its Charity Partnership Programme, an initiative designed to support high-impact community projects led by local charitable institutions. This programme is part of the broader efforts by the HKEX Foundation to create long-term, structural change across various sectors of society.
The programme focuses on four key areas. The first is Financial Literacy, which aims to promote sound financial understanding across all age groups, especially among disadvantaged populations. Projects in this area may include education on financial management, scam prevention, and retirement planning for vulnerable communities.
The second focus area is Social Empowerment. Here, the objective is to help vulnerable groups become more self-sufficient and rise above poverty. Initiatives that support mental and physical wellness, particularly for disadvantaged and minority communities, are encouraged.
The third pillar is Talent Development, where the programme seeks to cultivate an inclusive talent pipeline across education, the workplace, and the broader community. Projects that equip underserved groups with essential knowledge, skills, values, and competencies to thrive in the future workforce are particularly welcome.
The fourth and final area is Environmental Sustainability. This includes efforts to raise public awareness on climate change, offer environmental education, and promote the conservation of biodiversity and natural habitats. Projects should engage various age groups in sustainability education and action.
Funding for each approved project will range from HKD 500,000 to HKD 5,000,000, depending on the proposed scope and impact. Project durations must be set at either 12, 24, or 36 months.
Eligible applicants must be charitable organizations registered under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in Hong Kong and must have maintained this status for at least three years.
Applications will be evaluated based on several key criteria. These include alignment with the programme’s focus areas, the clarity and feasibility of the proposed project plan, and the potential for measurable social impact. Proposals should demonstrate a solid understanding of the root causes behind the issues being addressed, offer cost-effective solutions, and outline plans for scalability and sustainability beyond the funding period.
Additionally, applicants must show that they have the organizational capacity and a proven track record in delivering similar projects. Innovation is also valued—proposals that offer fresh, effective solutions to existing social or environmental gaps will be given priority.
Through this programme, HKEX aims to drive meaningful, systemic change in Hong Kong by supporting charities that are ready to make a real difference in people’s lives and the environment.
