The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation is opening a call for proposals for projects that will aim at strengthening the primary healthcare (PHC) system in Armenia, focusing on rural areas.
This initiative aligns with the state strategy to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) and aims to strengthen the system’s foundational layer, which is essential for the effective implementation of the UHC. The three goals they aim to achieve are outlined below. Proposals should address at least one or a combination of the following objectives.
Funding Goals and Objectives
- Group A: Increasing Healthcare Provider Capacity
- Addressing the critical shortage of healthcare providers in rural areas.
- Developing the talent pool, focusing on attracting more candidates to family medicine and nursing.
- Enhancing continuous medical education and capacity building of the existing workforce.
- Group B: Effective NCD (Noncommunicable diseases) Prevention & Management at PHC Level
- Enhancing PHC workers’ professional knowledge and skills to manage NCDs.
- Boosting regular preventive measures and awareness.
- Ensuring controlled and continuous management of NCD conditions.
- Group C: Enhancing PHC Management (Note: Proposals in this category will only be considered in combination with Group A or B objectives)
- Strengthening management and use of information systems in PHCs.
- Enhancing the availability of resources (enhanced medical equipment such as X-rays, ultrasonography, and echocardiograms, diagnostic tests for conditions like diabetes, anemia, or pregnancy, needed medications and more)
- Improving infrastructure adequacy, particularly sanitation facilities.
Funding Information
- Total Amount Available for Awarded Grants: $250,000 USD
- Expected Number of Awards: 3-6 and more, without strict upper or lower limit
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-profit organizations, health centers, universities, and institutes.
- Organizations that have established at least three years of program outcomes.
- Collaborative projects between private and public sectors are encouraged, as well as any collaborative projects between two or more NGOs.
- Calendar year, as well as multi-year grant requests, are eligible for consideration.
- Prior grant recipients of Foundation funding are eligible to reapply.
