The City of Mississauga has launched its Culture Projects Grant to provide funding that will engage the arts community and create works to increase awareness, promote education and take action to affect change.
The City encourages arts and culture organizations and collectives to animate different areas of the city and provide safe environments for people to experience art.
Themes
- The Culture Projects Grant’s focus for 2023 continues the theme from 2022 (Unifying Arts for Social Justice). The City will consider project grant applications that focus on anti-racism, anti-hate efforts, and community building in Mississauga.
- The goal of this theme is to:
- Provide funding that engages the arts community
- Create works to increase awareness, promote education, and take action to affect positive change
- The City encourages arts and culture organizations to animate different areas of Mississauga and provide safe environments for people to experience art. Examples of this include intimate events, temporary public art, exhibitions or performances.
Funding Information
- Culture Projects Grants funding support place-making initiatives using non-traditional spaces and platforms. These projects must take place between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.
- Projects must have clearly defined objectives and a corresponding budget. Organizations can apply for up to 50% of their total project budget or $5,000, whichever is less.
Eligibility Criteria
- Operating on a not-for-profit basis and governed by volunteers or a collective with a legal identity
- Projects must be arts, culture or heritage focused
- Projects must take place in Mississauga
