The High Commission of Canada to Belize is pleased to launch its annual call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.
The CFLI is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries. These projects must address at least one of the thematic priority areas for engagement of the Government of Canada.
Priorities
- Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
- Inclusive governance, including diversity and LGBTQ2, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
- Peace and security, with a focus on conflict prevention and building peace.
- Human dignity, covering health, education and nutrition.
- Growth that works for everyone, including women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, investing in the poorest and most vulnerable, and safeguarding economic gains.
- Environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management.
Funding Information
Project proposals presented must have a budget of approximately CDN$25,000.00 (Canadian Dollars, equivalent to BZD40,000) and all activities must be concluded by February 28, 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- Local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations,
- Local academic institutions working on local projects,
- International non-governmental organizations working on local development activities,
- Intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities (They caution missions to pursue projects with UN agencies judiciously, as the UN often requests changes to the standard Contribution Arrangements causing delays),
- Municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of the recipient country working on local projects, and
- Canadian non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities through a local office.
