Deadline: 17-Jul-25
UNICEF is inviting expressions of interest from organizations that can support the implementation of its programs across both emergency and non-emergency contexts. These programs span critical areas such as health, education, child protection, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), nutrition, and community development in Cameroon. The goal is to build a strong pool of strategic partners capable of delivering impactful results for children and families.
UNICEF’s areas of specialization include both sector-specific and cross-sectoral themes. Cross-cutting areas include communication for development, gender equality, engaging men and boys, and promoting youth leadership and participation. In the health sector, focus areas cover adolescent and child health, HIV/AIDS, immunization, health systems strengthening, and maternal and newborn care, including emergency obstetric services. In nutrition, UNICEF emphasizes infant and young child feeding, prevention and treatment of malnutrition, use of micronutrients, and broader nutrition programming. Child protection efforts will focus particularly on improving access to birth registration.
The geographic focus of this call includes specific regions in Cameroon, namely the East and Adamaoua regions. In health, UNICEF aims to ensure that by 2026, communities and services are equipped with tools and protocols to provide quality care for pregnant women, children, and adolescents. This includes training health workers, supporting local councils and families in promoting the use of health services, and providing vulnerable populations access to care that prevents mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
In nutrition, the expected results include increasing community knowledge and support for essential nutritional practices. Authorities at national, regional, and local levels should also have improved capacity to plan, coordinate, monitor, and mobilize resources for multisectoral nutrition interventions.
Birth registration is another key focus, with a goal that by 2026, government agencies will be better equipped to offer routine, free birth registration services and generate reliable vital statistics.
Eligibility for this call is limited to civil society organizations, including local or national NGOs, associations, and foundations. These organizations must demonstrate integrity and adhere to the values and ethical standards of the United Nations, particularly concerning the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA). Applicants must have a comprehensive SEA policy in line with the UN Secretary-General’s Bulletin ST/SGB/2003/13 and UNICEF’s guidelines. This includes a zero-tolerance approach to SEA, regular staff training, feedback mechanisms, confidential handling of allegations, and community communication strategies.
Individual applications are not permitted. Only legally registered entities with proven operational capacity and relevant project experience in the specified regions and sectors are eligible to apply for this expression of interest.
