The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in the framework of the UN Joint Programme “End Violence Against Women in Albania 2023-2025” (EVAWIA) Phase II, is launching a Call for Proposals for NGOs to strengthen advocacy, awareness, and service provision aimed at facilitating the empowerment of women survivors of violence.
Purpose and Areas of Interest
- The objective of this call is to facilitate the advancement of sustained progress in the elimination of violence against women through the implementation of advocacy efforts, the promotion of awareness, and the enhancement of local-level services. The call is focused on three main areas of interest:
- Advocacy and capacity building:
- Strengthening the advocacy capacities of women’s organizations and those dedicated to preventing and supporting survivors of violence, especially those operating in the targeted municipalities.
- Facilitating dialogues and workshops in the targeted municipalities to promote gender equality and combat violence against women among stakeholders.
- Awareness raising and community engagement:
- Conducting targeted awareness activities to address and end gender-based violence, including initiatives specifically aimed at women facing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, such as Roma and Egyptian, LGBTI, women with disabilities, and others.
- Engaging men and boys as active agents of change through targeted programmes designed to challenge harmful social norms and promote gender equality. Aligned with the UNDP Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025, this approach aims to reduce violence against women by addressing and transforming harmful practices of masculinity that contribute to gender-based violence.
- Service provision for survivors:
- Enhancing the delivery of essential services like psychosocial support, legal assistance, and other tailored support mechanisms for survivors of violence.
- Ensuring these services are accessible and inclusive, particularly for marginalized women facing compounded barriers due to discrimination and limited resources.
- Advocacy and capacity building:
Funding Information
- The project proposal should include a budget proposal where the request for grant shall not exceed the amount of 1,500,000 – 1,600,000 Albanian LEKË. Any grant requests over 1,600,000 for the total project period will not be considered.
Duration
- The project duration is 9 months, from September 2024 through May 2025.
Geographical Reach
- The purpose of the call is to ensure broad coverage while prioritizing the response to gender-based violence. Acknowledging the distinct challenges faced by municipalities across different regions in Albania, the suggested interventions should concentrate on the following municipalities: Berat, Kuçovë, Poliçan, Dimal, Skrapar, Has, Fushë-Arrëz, Malësi e Madhe, Pukë, Vau i Dejës
Eligibility Criteria
- This call is open to Albanian non-profit organizations with experience in providing support services to survivors of domestic violence (DV) and gender-based violence (GBV), as well as those involved in organizing awareness-raising and advocacy initiatives. By organization it is understood a non-profit organization registered in Albania to provide support and services to the vulnerable individuals and groups, where a primary aim of these organizations is empowerment and the growth of self-advocacy of persons to realize their lawful interests by accessing basic services, including DV and GBV victims support services.
