The City of Raleigh Arts Commission’s Grant Program has been announced which is the official vehicle for municipal support to the City’s arts organizations.
A major example of the City Council’s dedication to the cultural development of Raleigh, the program is supported currently by a $5 per capita allocation, which resulted in grant awards totaling $1,897,634 for 2020-2021.
Funding Information
- Program Support 1 Arts Grant: $1,000 – $15,000;
- Program Support 2 Arts Grant: $1,000 – $35,000;
- Operating Support Arts Grant: $10,000 – $175,000.
Funding Categories
- Program Support 1 grants help support a wide variety of quality arts programming that take place throughout the City of Raleigh. Successful applicants show how their projects are relevant to and supported by the Raleigh community as well. Funding may cover up to 50 per cent of program expenses. Program Support 1 is designed to support applicants new to the Arts Grant Program and non-arts and cultural organizations.
- Program Support 2 grants help support a wide variety of quality arts programs and projects that take place primarily in the City of Raleigh. Program Support is available for arts programming produced by nonprofits that advance the applicant organization’s artistic development, upgrade services by the applicant, or develop new areas of interest. Funding may cover up to 50 per cent of program expenses.
- Operating Support is available to established arts organizations and provides non-project assistance toward ongoing administrative costs for qualifying organizations. Eligible applicants are established, arts-committed organizations that provide a quality cultural product or service with wide-ranging impact on the City of Raleigh and that are responsible for their own programming.
Eligibility Criteria
- Subject to eligibility requirements, any nonprofit organization, with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and whose corporate headquarters are located within the limits of the City of Raleigh, may apply for an Arts Grant.
- Program Support 1 Arts Grants:
- Nonprofit organizations headquartered in Raleigh with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.
- Program Support 2 Arts Grants:
- Nonprofit organizations headquartered in Raleigh with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.
- New Applicants: Must have successfully completed Program Support 1 grant projects for three of the past four years.
- Operating Support Arts Grants:
- Nonprofit organizations headquartered in Raleigh with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.
- New Applicants: Must have successfully completed Program Support 2 grant projects for three of the past four years.
