The City of Victoria is accepting applications for the My Great Neighborhood Grant Program. The program helps residents animate public space, develop and enhance a sense of community and leave a positive legacy in their neighbourhoods. You are invited to apply!
Funding Information
- The City will provide up to $5,000 for placemaking projects and community recovery and resiliency projects and up to $1,000 for activities.
Placemaking projects
Placemaking projects may include:
- Community garden enhancement;
- Boulevard enhancement;
- Neighbourhood gathering place (e.g. seating areas);
- Community pathway;
- Decorative lighting display;
- Community art display;
- Neighbourhood branding initiative;
- Interpretive signage;
- Community lending projects (e.g. seed libraries and tools);
- Playground enhancement;
- Playable spaces.
Qualifying Projects
- Are initiated and implemented by local residents;
- Help animate community spaces;
- Create gathering spots or provide activities that bring people together;
- Contribute to neighbourhood pride and enhance the quality of life;
- Promote community development and community programming;
- Could serve as a neighbourhood improvement campaign;
- Can be a pilot project;
- Must be completed within one year upon receiving funding.
Guidelines
Here are the guidelines for your final report:
- What were your project objectives, and did you achieve them?
- Did your project involve working with residents? How did that go?
- How has your project been received by the community?
- Please provide a financial breakdown of the final budget and explain any changes that were necessary.
- Are there any other thoughts or observations you would like to share?
- Please provide some photos of the finished project and/or of your activity. Please forward your final report to your Neighbourhood Liaison within 30 days of completing your project or activity
