The Community Foundation of Pulaski County (CFPC) is seeking applications for its grant program to encourage the growth of endowed funds to serve and enrich the community today and tomorrow.
Grants are also made from unrestricted funds through an application process; funds where donors have directed a specific charitable field or purpose; and funds where donors are allowed to submit recommendations for distributions.
Type of Grants
- Community Grants – for organizations seeking grants of up to $20,000 for projects in one of the four areas of aspiration as described in the Community Conversations report: forward thinking leadership; safe and drug-free; thriving and growing; welcoming and open-minded.
- Small Project Grants – for organizations seeking grants of up to $1,500 for projects in one of the four areas of aspiration as described in the Community Conversations report: forward thinking leadership; safe and drug-free; thriving and growing; welcoming and open-minded.
- Field of Interest Grants – three grants are available for specific charitable purposes: adult education; educationally disadvantaged children/adults; wildlife conservation and education. Grant amounts vary.
- Sustainability Grants – for 501(c)(3) organizations who wish to create their own endowment fund in the Community Foundation. A $5,000 matching grant can enable an organization to establish a $10,000 permanent endowment and provide a stable source of income for its mission.
Aspirations
- Thriving and Growing Community: While people want a Thriving and Growing community, they are concerned that:
- People are not working together
- The populati on is declining
- They are not prosperous or forward-thinking
- There is a lack of diversity in economic growth
- They have a lack of leadership
- The current tax structure causes people to move out of Pulaski County
- Safe and Drug-Free Community: While people want a Safe and Drug-Free community, they are concerned that:
- Demographics are changing (more poverty causing negative income growth)
- There are more drug arrests, overdoses and deaths and less preventi on efforts
- There is more use of the following drugs: vaping, marijuana, methamphetamines, heroin, opioids, pills, and synthetics
- Drug use is starti ng at a younger age
- Welcoming and Open-Minded Community: While people talk about wanting a Welcoming and Open-Minded community, they are concerned that:
- It is hard to fi t in socially (when you are not from Pulaski County)
- There are long-term biases
- It’s hard to be connected to each other as well as to the community
- It’s hard to make friends
- People can’t disagree without being disagreeable
- Community with Forward-Thinking Leadership: While people talk about wanting a community with Forward-Thinking Leadership, they are concerned that:
- They need to have a positi ve outlook on growth and change
- They lack qualified leadership inelected offices
- There is no shared vision for the community
- There is a lot of in-fighting in the organizations and government
- They don’t have new leaders stepping up
- They need fresh ideas and a new way of doing things
Eligibility Criteria
- CFPC grants shall serve Pulaski County and its communities. Specific requirements pertaining to each type of grant are included on the individual applications.
- Candidates must be nonprofit organizations organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes for the benefit of Pulaski County residents.
