The Community Trust 2 (CT2) is currently accepting proposals in the categories of Civic Engagement and Health and Human Services.
Funding Information
- There is no upper funding limit, however, individual grants from the Community Trust typically range between $1,000 and $9,000.
Civic Engagement
- The Community Trust – Civic Engagement category is designed to contribute to a more informed, inclusive and connected community with more equitable outcomes for those residents who have been historically underrepresented communities in Boulder County.
- Priorities
- As in past years, all organizations and entities working in this sector are invited to apply for funding. However, this year priority will be given to the following:
- Nonpartisan voter registration and voter education initiatives such as, but not limited to fora on candidates, amendments and ballot initiatives, and efforts to increase fairness and improve representation in local government.
- Community organizing and other efforts that meaningfully engage historically underrepresented communities to represent themselves as they address community issues that impact them.
- Applicants that address equity within their own organizations and/or in the community by developing new partnerships to extend reach of programs and services to historically underrepresented populations; translation of materials, social media, website, and communications to be language and culturally appropriate in order to support outreach; successful recruitment of board members, staff, or interns from historically underrepresented populations.

- Health and Human Services
- The Community Trust – Health and Human Services category is designed to meet the most pressing needs of most vulnerable residents and to promote an equity lens in this work.

- As in past years, all organizations and entities working in this sector are invited to apply for funding. However, this year priority will be given to the following:
- Organizations serving historically underrepresented communities that demonstrate efforts to develop or fine-tune capacity for referral, service navigation, case support, or liaison work that involves the development of new partnerships, relationships and networks to ensure welcoming and culturally appropriate connections when their community members/participants access critical needs services through other entities.
- Programs that include efforts to address the digital divide for vulnerable populations other than for educational settings and purposes, this may include but not be limited to reentry populations; court-, child welfare- or domestic violence-involved families, unhoused populations, people experiencing disabilities, elder adults.
- Applicants that address equity within their own organizations and/or in the community by developing new partnerships to expand the reach of programs and services to historically underrepresented populations; translation of materials, social media, website, and communications to be language and culturally appropriate in order to support outreach; successful recruitment of board members, staff, or interns from historically underrepresented populations.
- Applications from organizations whose leadership reflects the population served, or demonstrate they work directly with the population served to design and implement projects and programs.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be any nonprofit organization with an IRS 501(c)(3) designation or any governmental or public entity. Groups or organizations that do not have IRS 501(c)(3) designation may only apply in partnership with one of the nonprofit designations listed above serving as a fiscal sponsor.
- The Community Foundation accepts proposals for specific projects and programs, as well as for unrestricted expenses (general operating), capital campaigns, and technical assistance.
- Grantees must use grant proceeds only for the stated purpose of the grant, or for charitable and educational activities consistent with the organization’s tax-exempt status.
- Organizations may not receive funding for a particular program more than once in a calendar year from multiple unrestricted Community Foundation grant funds (i.e. Millennium Trust, Community Trust, 15 Forever, the Open Door Fund, the Veterans Fund, or The BRAVO Fund). This policy does not apply to General Operating requests, grants from donor-advised funds, or COVID-19 Response Funds.
- Grants from the Community Trust are exclusively for activities or projects in Boulder County and for the benefit of Boulder County residents.
- Community Foundation Boulder County does not make grants to organizations where grant money from unrestricted or field of interest funds would be used to further a particular political or religious doctrine.
