The Mornington Peninsula Shire is seeking applications for its COVID-19 Community Recovery Grants to provide assistance for activities in response to the impacts of COVID-19 that improve health and wellbeing through community connection, collaboration, innovation, artistic intention, and social inclusion.
Desired Outcomes
- Activities that build and strengthen community connections.
- Initiatives that create collaboration and social opportunities.
- Projects that increase community access to artists’ work.
- Activities that improve artists’ connection with local businesses and communities.
- Supporting local artists to deliver events or performances that can generate income.
Funding Information
- Funding up to $10,000 is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for consideration for funding, the project/activity must:
- Be implemented within the Local Government Area of the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
- Be completed within 12 months of funding.
- This program is open to incorporated, not-for-profit community organizations/groups, deductible gift recipient (DGR1) registered organizations, social enterprise and the following creative sector individuals (for the purpose of this grant referred to as ‘artist’), based in the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Local Government area:
- Performing artists,
- Visual artists,
- Musicians,
- Crafts and creative practitioners.
- ABN, sole trader registration, and incorporation status must be identified in the application.
- Applicants without an ABN must submit a Statement by a Supplier form from the ATO with this application.
- Community groups without incorporation status and artists without sole trader registration are able to be auspiced by an eligible organization. An Auspice Agreement form must be completed and attached to the application. The organization that agrees to auspice another group must be involved in the conduct and financial management of the project for which a grant is being sought.
- Only one application per organization/artist can be accepted. Projects previously funded by Council are not eligible.
- Must have the appropriate type and level of insurance for the activities that are the subject of this grant.
- Does not owe any money or reports (acquittal) as a result of previous Shire funding or grants.
Assessment Criteria
- Demonstrate why the funds are needed in response to the impacts of COVID-19 on the community.
- Builds and strengthens community connections.
- Benefits broad range of community, with a specific focus on those experiencing disadvantage.
- Improves health and wellbeing of communities with particular attention to mental health.
- Supports creative responses in recovery.
Funding is made on the basis of a one-off payment and to ensure funds are available to assist as many eligible groups as possible, only one application per organization can be accepted.
An Assessment Panel will evaluate and score applications for compliance with the criteria of the program. Council will consider the Panel’s recommendations in April 2021 and applicants will be notified in writing of the Council’s decision.
