The Community Foundation for Ireland is pleased to announce Sector Recovery and Resilience Grant Programme that aims to build capacity, strength and resilience within organisations and the community and voluntary sector to build a stronger, more equal and empowered society.
Funding Information
- €230,000 is available for this open grant round.
- Grants of up to €20,000 are available to organisations working with communities in Ireland who have been disproportionately affected by the Pandemic. Organisations can apply once to for funding under one strand only.
- The total project cost may be larger than the funding available, but no more than €20,000 will be granted in this round.
Eligible Projects
Collaborative projects are encouraged where multiple organisations come together to create an outsized impact. There are three types of projects that are eligible in this grant round. Organisations can apply to only one strand.
Strand 1: Strategy Development and Implementation
- This Strategy Development and Implementation strand aims to enable organisations to invest in designing and implementing strategies to build strength within their organisations or the wider sector.
- Examples of eligible projects include:
- The development and implementation of fundraising strategies to ensure financial stability of an organisation.
- The development and implementation of a strategy that will enable an organisation to pivot to stronger online or socially distant service delivery.
- The development and implementation of a strategy to build additional strength within the sector through training and resources.
- Projects in this strand can include costs associated with facilitators, focus groups, workshops, implementation, evaluation, and the staff time associated with these activities.
Strand 2: Research and Recommendations
- The Research and Recommendations strand will enable organisations to invest in vital research to aid in a more strategic recovery from Covid-19 that is grounded in evidence to create a stronger society and sector.
- Examples of eligible projects include:
- Research into the impact and effects of Covid-19 on particularly vulnerable or marginalised groups of people and recommendations for improved supports or policies.
- Research into the impact of Covid-19 on the Community and Voluntary sector and recommendations to bolster the sector.
- Evaluation of current services in light of the challenges created by Covid-19 and recommendations for developing a stronger service delivery.
- Research can be completed in house or through an external consultant or research team.
Strand 3: Empowering Voices
- The Empowering Voices strand aims to enable organisations to embed the voices of marginalised groups in their work and to amplify them further as Ireland recovers from the pandemic.
- Marginalised groups include but are not limited to:
- Travellers and Roma,
- People with intellectual and physical disabilities,
- Older people,
- Those experiencing sexual and domestic violence,
- Refugees and asylum seekers,
- Those who are homeless.
- Examples of eligible projects include:
- Public awareness campaigns, led by marginalised groups to highlight their experience of the pandemic and build support for change.
- Programmes and training that enables marginalised groups to self-advocate in order to encourage an equal Covid-19 recovery for everyone.
- Campaigns that hold the government to account on their plans for recovery that have marginalised voices at the core.
- Proposals to this strand must ensure that the voices of marginalised groups are at the centre of the work during the planning and implementation stages.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, organisations must have an annual income of €150,000 or more.
- Collaboration between organisations is encouraged where impact is substantially increased for the beneficiaries. The organisation who is applying for the grant must be eligible based on the criteria above and should be the lead partner in the project. They will be the point of contact for queries, payment and reporting.
- Proposals should be detailed, grounded in evidence, and have clear demonstrable impact.
- Budgets must be detailed and realistic. Funding should be spent down within 12 months.
- Proposals to this fund can include the staff time costs specifically related to the project. Equipment and small capital costs are eligible where they are fundamental to the project, however, they are not able to fund large building or restoration work, or ongoing organisational costs.
- They recommend that organisations include evaluation costs as a part of their budget.
