Applications are now open for the Cox Charities Community Grants to ensure that their giving is meeting the needs of their local communities.
Focus Areas
Cox Charities funds organizations that focus on the following:
- Youth & Education: Cox Charities supports organizations with programs focused on innovative STEM opportunities for K-12 students beyond the classroom.
- Conservation & Sustainability: As part of their focus on preserving and protecting the environment, Cox Charities provides funding for programs that create positive environmental change in their communities.
- Inclusion, Equity & Diversity: Cox Charities firmly supports programs that promote inclusiveness, diverse populations and equitable opportunities in their communities, including their military and veterans.
- Bridging the Digital Divide: Cox Charities is proud to support a variety of nonprofits that improve the quality of life for specific to bridging the digital divide, digital equity, and digital literacy.
Program Criteria
Recipients will be selected by considering a number of factors, including the following criteria:
- How well does the project align with the Cox Charities focus areas.
- The overall impact and need of this program in local communities.
- How clearly does the proposal define program objectives and projected outcomes?
- What are the metrics in place to measure the program’s overall successes and/or future opportunities?
- Does the program have a robust communication strategy to promote the program externally, collaborate with stakeholders and share the program’s outcomes?
- Note: Grants are typically between $2,500- $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Funded by employee donations that are company matched, Cox Charities has a diverse advisory board of Cox employees that reviews funding requests and evaluates programs to ensure that our giving is meeting the needs of their local communities. Nonprofits organizations (within their Orange County, Palos Verdes, San Diego and Santa Barbara footprint) with a program aligned with their focus areas are encouraged to apply.
What they do not support?
- Animal welfare
- Arts
- Events (i.e. galas, walks/runs)
- Health & Wellness (i.e. disease prevention, health related missions)
- Foundations
- Specific individuals
- Labor or fraternal organizations
- Organizations that discriminate
- Non 501(c)3 designated organizations
- Recreational sports teams and clubs
- Religious or political promotion
- Travel
