The Hauraki District Council is seeking applications for Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) to support the diverse artistic cultural traditions of local communities.
Priorities

Priority will be given to applications that:
- Create opportunities for local communities to engage with, and participate in local arts activities
- Support the diverse artistic cultural traditions of local communities
- Enable young people (under 18 years) to engage with, and participate in the arts
Funding Information
- There is no limit to how much you can apply for, but most CCS grants are under $2,000.
Eligible Projects
- Fundraising activities
- Developing galleries, marae, theatres or other venues or facilities
- Local council projects
- Projects which are mainly focused around other areas e.g. health, education or the environment and that only have a very small arts component
- Arts projects in schools or other education institutions that are the core business of that institution or that are normally funded through curriculum or operating budgets
Eligibility Criteria
- You can be an individual or a group. Individuals must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
- If you have already received CCS funding for a project, you must complete a report on that project before making another application, unless the project is still in progress.
- Any group or individual can apply if their project meets at least one of the scheme’s criteria:
- Broad community involvement – The project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities.
- Diversity – The project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
- Young people – The project will enable and encourage young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.

In the past, they’ve funded:
- Exhibitions, productions, concerts, festivals, workshops and presentations that offer opportunities for community involvement in the arts.
- Activities that support the traditions and arts of ethnic communities.
- Youth arts events
- Artist-led projects involving local communities
- Materials for arts activities or programmes
- Personnel costs for one-off, short-term projects
- Promotion and publicity of arts activities
- School-based projects that are outside of the school’s normal activities and provide opportunities for community participation or benefits to the wider community are also eligible.
