The House of Europe has announced the applications for the Spread of European Art to acquaint Ukrainian readers with selected works by European authors or to translate Ukrainian literature to promote abroad.
Funding Information
- These are grants for publishers to translate fiction. You will receive up to 300,000 euros to acquaint Ukrainian readers with selected works by European authors or to translate Ukrainian literature to promote abroad. You can choose several books at once – from 5 to infinity. The grant will cover up to 60% of the costs of translation, publishing, distribution and promotion of books in paper, electronic or audio format.
- All books must be translated within three years. You can work independently or apply together with publishers, bookstores and literary festivals from Ukraine, the EU and 12 other countries. The European Commission recommends applying in a team with EU partners.
What will you get?
- If you plan to publish from 5 to 10 books – up to 100,000 euros.
- If you plan to publish from 11 to 20 books – up to 200,000 euros.
- If you plan to publish more than 20 books – up to 300,000 euros.
Pay Attention
- You can translate Ukrainian works into English, German, French, Spanish or Italian.
- The grant only supports translations of fiction. Autobiographies, biographies, essays without artistic elements, travel guides, scientific works can not be translated.
- The books you plan to translate must be published.
- Books must be written by authors who were born, live in or are recognized as part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine, the EU, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, Moldova, Norway, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Tunisia or Montenegro.
- If a translation of the book already exists, explain why it is important to release another version.

Eligibility Criteria
- These are grants for publishers that:
- have a legal entity. FOP is also suitable;
- registered in Ukraine, the EU, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, Moldova, Norway, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Tunisia or Montenegro.
- The applicant organization must have been registered for more than two years.
