The City of Hobart is seeking applications for its Creative Hobart Small and Medium Grants to support cultural and creative programs that encourage community participation, attract cultural tourism, and make Hobart a truly wonderful place to live, work and visit.
Creative Hobart Grants are offered in two grant categories that provide funding for eligible organizations and groups to deliver one-off activities involving artists and communities in the creation, direction, and management of cultural projects.

- provide greater exposure to cultural activities;
- increase opportunities for community involvement;
- employ artists and creative practitioner;
- attract cultural tourism;
- make Hobart a truly wonderful place to live, work and visit.
Grant Information
- Small Creative Hobart Grants
- Amount: $1000 – $5000
- Key dates: July 2020 – June 2021
- Medium Creative Hobart Grants
- Amount: $5000 – $15 000
- Key dates: July 2020 – June 2021.

Eligibility Criteria
- Registered Not For Profit organisations and charities:
- Registered Not For Profit (NFP) organisations (which includes registered charities) are eligible to apply for and auspice applications for grants. Eligible legal entities include unincorporated associations, incorporated associations, companies, cooperatives, Indigenous corporations, and Trusts.
- Unregistered groups or organisations:
- Unregistered organisations or groups may apply for grants under an auspice agreement.
- Applicants are required to enter an auspicing agreement with a registered NFP organisation to be legally responsible for the project, financial management, and public liability coverage.
- Applicants who are auspiced must provide full details and confirmation from their auspicing organisation with their application.
- Individuals or a group of individuals:
- Applications for projects initiated by an individual or a collaborative group (of two or more individuals) may apply for grants under an auspice agreement.
- The Community grants stream does not accept applications from individuals or a group of individuals.
- Applicants who are auspiced must provide full details and confirmation from their auspicing organisation with their application
- Commercial and for-profit organisations:
- Companies and organisations that operate as for-profit entities may apply for a ‘matched’ grant.
- That is, for every dollar requested from the City of Hobart, the applicant must match an equal, or greater, dollar amount to the project.
- The Community grants stream does not accept applications from commercial and for-profit organisations.
To be eligible for funding as a commercial or for-profit organisation must:

- be a small business, defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as employing under 20 people. This includes franchises where the franchisee (not the parent company) employs under 20 people
- be a business physically located in the City of Hobart municipal area
- have an appropriate business registration (sole traders are acceptable).
