The City of Mississauga has launched its Culture Projects Grant Program to provide funding that will engage the arts community and create works to increase awareness, promote education and take action to affect change.
The City encourages arts and culture organizations and collectives to animate different areas of the city and provide safe environments for people to experience art.
This year’s Culture Project Grant focuses on anti-racism/ anti-hate efforts and community building within Mississauga. The Culture Project Grant focus for 2022 is Unifying Arts for Social Justice. The “Program” will provide project-based grants organizations and collectives to:
Educate residents and their communities about the reality of racism, hate and discrimination Promote creative, innovative collaborations for building community capacity to resist racism, hate, and discrimination
Inspire cultural practitioners to create a wide variety of artistic experiences using various mediums and channels to increase awareness and promote social change.
Funding Information
Culture Project grants are intended to support placemaking initiatives using untraditional spaces and platforms. These projects must take place between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
- Projects should have clearly defined objectives and corresponding budget.
- Organizations can apply for up to 50% of their total project budget or $10,000, whichever is less.
- Multi-faceted projects are encouraged. Each organization would be required to submit an application for different elements of the larger project. Each element must be able to stand on its own and should complement the larger project.
- Applicants can only receive Culture Projects funding for a maximum of two consecutive years or based on demand.
- Applicants can only apply for one Culture Projects Grant per year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Operating on a not-for-profit basis and governed by volunteers, or
- A collective with a legal identity
- Projects must be arts, culture or heritage focused
- Projects must take place in Mississauga
