Applications are now open for the DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Fund to be a depository for contributions intended to respond to the effects of COVID-19 in DeKalb County by distributing grants in the areas of preparedness, response, recovery, and/or rebuilding efforts.
The DeKalb County COVID-19 Respond Fund will provide grants to nonprofit organizations. This will be the final grant round for the DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Fund, so all remaining funds will be dispersed during this round.
The committee would like to be supportive of as many organizations as possible to help in the recovery from the pandemic. Proposals should demonstrate a plan to utilize grant resources to promote sustainability and long-term recovery.
Funding Information
- Most grants will range from $5,000-$15,000.
Grant Guidelines
When applying for a grant, please note the following:
- The DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Fund shall respond to the needs of nonprofits that have been impacted by COVID-19 and are seeking funds to promote organizational sustainability. Grants shall be made to nonprofit agencies located in or serving DeKalb County. For-profit and government entities are not eligible to apply.
- Organizations must have local leadership in the form of a board of directors or advisory committee, local financial support, and local program management and accountability. In the case of nationally or regionally sponsored organizations, no portion of the grant can be used to support the national, state, or regional entity.
- Based upon the charitable structure of the DCCRF COVID-19 Response Fund, grants are limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They are not able to fund individuals or businesses directly, labor unions, or other 501(c)(4), 501(c)(5) and 501(c)(6) organizations.
- Funds will be distributed to nonprofit organizations serving DeKalb County’s most vulnerable populations with a focus on providing funding toward basic human needs of residents in the county, including but not limited to emergency food and basic supplies, interim housing and shelter, primary health care services, utility and financial assistance, supports for children and other vulnerable populations, and nonprofit organizations that may be at financial risk and need operating assistance.
- Agencies are encouraged to maximize these dollars through matching grants with other donors
- Grants from the DCCRF shall not be used for the following:
- To fund endowments, contingency funds, reserves, interest, or taxes.
- Capital campaigns
- For sectarian or religious purposes or for organizations operated primarily for the benefit of their own membership.
- For the payment of political organizations or campaigns.
- To purchase benefit tickets, respond to telephone solicitations, or national fund-raising efforts.
