The Government of Yukon is accepting applications for the Environmental Awareness Funding Program that supports the efforts of grassroots organizations to educate engage and connect Yukon communities with the territory’s natural environment to promote conservation, biodiversity, sustainability, and stewardship.
Funding Information
- Applications must include a detailed budget with a request for funding up to $30,000.
Eligible topics can include:
- Recycling, compost and waste reduction;
- Stpping illegal dumping;
- Yukon species and habitat conservation;
- Water stewardship;
- Human-wildlife conflict prevention;
- Wildlife-agriculture conflict prevention;
- Climate change adaptation and mitigation;
- Sustainable practices for outdoor recreating (hiking, paddling, wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, ATVing, sledding, etc.);
- Backcountry etiquette/Leave No Trace principles;
- Cultural connection with the environment.
Activities
Eligible activities can include:
- Educational camps and workshops;
- Brochures, web content, videos and other educational materials;
- Awareness campaigns;
- Outreach booths and events;
- Public lectures.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants are Yukon-based and include:
- Registered non-profit societies.
- Applicants who do not already benefit from a transfer payment agreement with Government of Yukon will be given priority.
