Deadline: 25-Jun-25
The EU Civil Society Facility project has launched a Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the formation of Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) that will address key regional priorities. These groups will unite civil society organizations (CSOs) from across five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—into collaborative platforms for regional change.
The overarching goal of the TWGs is to foster deeper collaboration among CSOs on shared regional issues. Through this initiative, the project aims to promote joint efforts that result in impactful policy recommendations and innovative solutions. The TWGs will also play a vital role in enhancing the advocacy capacity of participating organizations, ensuring they are better equipped to contribute to meaningful reforms.
These working groups are designed to promote values of transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in policymaking. An important part of their work will involve building cooperative relationships not only among CSOs but also with governmental institutions and the private sector.
The TWGs will focus on five priority topics of regional significance. These include digital transition and transformation, climate change and environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, governance and socially responsible business practices, and youth engagement in policymaking and decision-making processes. Each group will function as a regional hub for collaboration, policy advocacy, and capacity-building in these areas.
Participating organizations will benefit from joining a dynamic regional and European network of civil society actors. They will have access to capacity-building opportunities through training, shared learning, and peer collaboration. Members will also have the opportunity to actively contribute to shaping regional policies that respond to pressing challenges. Additionally, support for travel and participation in working group meetings may be provided when needed.
To be eligible, applicant organizations must be formally registered CSOs operating at either the national or regional level in Central Asia. They should have demonstrated expertise and a history of impactful work in at least one of the five priority areas. The organizations must also show a commitment to regional cooperation and possess the operational capacity to actively engage in the working group’s activities.
Applications are especially encouraged from organizations that promote gender equality, social inclusion, and represent marginalized or underrepresented groups. This initiative is committed to ensuring that a wide range of voices from across the region are included in the development and implementation of meaningful reforms.
