The European Commission (hereinafter “the Commission”) launches a call for proposals, through its Representation in Spain, to select partners to manage EUROPE DIRECT in the 2021-2025 period.
EUROPE DIRECT commits itself to citizens in a proactive way and with a vocation of continuity to promote that citizens make the European project more their own. By organizing information and participation activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make an informed choice for the future of the EU through full participation in the European democratic process.
EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Commission Representations and the European Parliament Liaison Offices (hereinafter “the EP Liaison Offices”) in the respective Member States. It also seeks cooperation with other EU outreach networks and local contact points, including relevant local networks (if they exist) and promotes exchanges and coordination between them.
Core Tasks
The EUROPE DIRECT must perform the following tasks:
- Task 1: Information and participation of citizens: EUROPE DIRECT should address the public in relation to EU matters by organizing information and participation activities , such as various events, workshops, meetings with citizens and any other form of interaction in person or on the internet.
- Task 2: Relations with the media and local multipliers: EUROPE DIRECT shall establish regular contacts and endeavor to get strong links with the media and multipliers local, such as:
- the local press and its journalists;
- local television channels and their editorial boards;
- local radio stations and programs;
- Social media influencers who are active in a given region or who are involve issues considered sensitive for the region;
- bloggers and vloggers who are active in a given region or who are involve issues considered sensitive for the region;
- other multipliers or local opinion leaders
- Task 3: Information on sensitive EU issues at local level: EUROPE DIRECT will report to the Commission Representation any significant local concern or perception of EU policies or projects on the ground that may negatively affect the local public opinion of the EU, including any distorted or inaccurate information about the Union European broadcast from a specific local perspective (different from the rest of the country) that raises such concerns.
- Task 4: The EU in schools: EUROPE DIRECT should contact schools and institutes in your area of Impact to promote official educational material about the EU, such as the one in Learning Zone, the Education and Learning page of the Parliament and other official materials produced by the EU institutions.
- Task 5: Promotion of a regional network of networks: EUROPE DIRECT must have a clear vision of the presence and mission of other dissemination or information networks of the EU in your region, area or area of impact.
Funding Information
- The amount of each grant for the years 2022-2025 will amount to € 34,200.
- The amount of each grant for 2021 will be € 22,800.
- In addition, an extraordinary grant will be awarded in 2021 for a promotional event of EUROPE DIRECT worth 3,600 EUR.
Eligibility Criteria
Any of the following applicants may submit proposals:
- a public body, such as a local / regional authority, or
- a private body with a public service mission
Natural persons will not be admissible.
