The Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art is pleased to announce the Event Support Grants Program to support institutions when hosting events in the field of British art or architectural history.
Scope
Event Support Grants are specifically designed to support institutions in hosting events in the field of British art or architectural history such as lectures, conferences, workshops, symposia and seminars for scholars or provided at a scholarly level for the general public.
Institutions may claim for the following costs:
- Venue hire
- Travel and accommodation costs for speakers
- Staffing costs
- Speaker fees/honorariums
- Catering costs
- Printing and publicity
- Allocation of free or reduced-fee places for students
- Staffing costs
- Tools to increase accessibility of the event (eg. live captioning, BSL translator hire, live stream capabilities and equipment hire such as wheelchair ramps, induction loop facility etc.)
- Equipment hire for producing video recordings and/or audio formats
- Fees associated with virtual event hosting platforms (e.g. Zoom subscription)
- Tools to increase accessibility of the event (eg. live captioning)
Funding Information
- Event Support Grants are offered for up to a maximum of £3,000.
- The award will be paid directly to the institution as a lump sum only.
Eligibility Criteria
- The funding programme supports scholarship, academic research and the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of British art and architectural history, and of British visual culture understood more broadly, from the medieval period to the present day. All supported events must have a clear art-historical perspective, including those that focus on recent or contemporary artistic practice. All applications must demonstrate that British art, architecture or visual culture provides a substantial focus for their event. Applications will be assessed according to their academic rigour, originality, and contribution to scholarship. They do not fund events focusing on archaeology, current architecture practice, or the performing arts.
- Event Support Grants are open to institutional applicants only, applications for collaborative events are permitted yet one of the institutions must be nominated as the lead for the Grant administration.
