The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), and Family Violence Prevention and Services (FVPSA) Program seeks to award four cooperative agreements under the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, to establish and maintain four Culturally-Specific Sexual Assault Capacity Building Centers (CSSAC) that will enhance intervention and prevention efforts for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and family violence for members of racial and ethnic minority groups including African Americans, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, and Latinos/Latinas.
Specifically, FVPSA’s has the following statutory purposes:
- Assist states and Indian tribes in efforts to increase public awareness about and primary and secondary prevention of family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence;
- Assist states and Indian tribes in efforts to provide immediate shelter and supportive services for victims of family violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and their dependents;
- Provide for a national domestic violence hotline; and
- Provide for technical assistance and training relating to family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence programs to states and Indian tribes, local public agencies (including law enforcement agencies; courts; and legal, social service, and health care professionals), nonprofit private organizations (including faithbased and charitable organizations, community- based organizations, and voluntary associations), tribal organizations, and other persons seeking such assistance and training.
