Applications are now open for the Food Poverty Grant Program to support organisations in their efforts to tackle Food Poverty in Neath Port Talbot.
Funding Criteria
- The funding will support the increased number of people facing food poverty by strengthening community food initiatives. This includes a focus on activity that helps to address the root causes of food poverty.
- Capital funding
- The capital funding should support organisations to access, store and distribute additional supplies of good quality food. This includes good food surplus, in particular, larger amounts of fresh food. This will help to boost their capacity to provide good quality, nutritious food to their customers. It can be used in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:
- Purchasing fridges, freezers and cooking equipment.
- Purchasing IT equipment which could help facilitate a system of electronic referrals and contact with customers.
- Revenue funding
- The revenue funding can also be used in a variety of ways, including:
- Developing projects such as
- social supermarkets,
- community cafes,
- lunch clubs and
- community cookery classes.
- Developing and strengthening food partnerships with a view to creating healthy, sustainable local food systems that help tackle food insecurity.
- To provide specialist support for initiatives such as
- outreach work,
- training for volunteers,
- building community resilience through the development of community hubs,
- community cafes,
- social enterprises and
- advice services built around community food provision.
- The revenue funding can also be used in a variety of ways, including:
Eligibility Criteria
Charitable or voluntary organisations, those with charitable objectives and not-for-profit organisations.
