Deadline: 01-Oct-20
The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Foundations COVID-19 Grants are designed to offer state medical and osteopathic boards and other health care organizations funding support for the study of state responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The long-term goal of the program is to support the development and implementation of sustainable models and policies that can guide state preparedness and responses to similar emergencies in the future, as well as their capacity for recovery planning.
This grant program is designed to be as flexible as possible. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:
- The impact of waiver and modification of licensing and renewal requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic on 1) various provider populations (specialty, gender, age, geographic location) and/or 2) board operations, applications and complaints.
- The identification of health disparities and efforts to increase health equity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The impact of loosened restrictions on telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic on access to care for various populations (e.g. rural and underserved, those with chronic conditions [including SUD], elderly).
- Strategies to manage and support the mental and physical health of physicians and other health care workers resulting from increased responsibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The overall goal of the program is to evaluate lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and identify policy, technical and regulatory strategies to improve preparedness for, response to, and recovery from future public health emergencies, while promoting health equity and reducing disparities in health care.
