Objectives
- The specific objective of the programme concerning this call for proposals is: The foundations for an effective system for the long-term maintenance of natural capital, biodiversity and marine and coastal ecosystem services shall be established.
- The priorities of this call for proposals are:
- Operationalization of the MPAs currently being created and the new (future) MPAs identified as priorities, promoting the inclusion of best practices in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity of flagship species and habitats, in line with the regional strategy for protected areas in Central Africa.
- Consideration of relevant elements of the different components of the ODEBAC regional programme on which collaboration is expected (e.g. collaboration and experience sharing with stakeholder networks; complementarity or relay of key initiatives in the fields of research, policy, blue economy and fisheries; etc.).
- Taking into account the indicators and associated methodologies recommended under the ODEBAC programme, in order to contribute to harmonized reporting at regional level, which will be guided by the programme’s technical assistance.
- Taking into account other programmes financed by the European Union in São Tomé and Príncipe and presenting how continuity of the achievements and/or complementarity will be ensured (in particular the ongoing programmes “Landscape management in São Tomé and Príncipe”, which covers specific coastal “special reserves”, and “FISH4ACP”, as well as the ongoing call for proposals “Green transition in São Tomé and Príncipe”, which covers the development of eco-tourism).
- Consideration of other relevant programmes in the sector and presentation of how thematic and geographical complementarity of interventions will be ensured (in particular the “Blue Action Fund” programme and the “Coastal resilience and sustainable tourism” programme).
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 2.000.000. The contracting authority reserves the right not to award all available funds.
- Size of grants
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- minimum amount: EUR 1.900.000
- maximum amount: EUR 2.000.000
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 40 months nor exceed 60 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation and
- be effectively established in a country eligible for NDICI : a) EU member states ; b) IAP III beneficiaries; c) European Economic Area countries; d) developing countries and territories (as listed by the OECD DAC as ODA recipients) that are not members of the G20, namely: 1- least developed countries (LDCs), 2- other low-income countries, 3- lower middle-income countries and territories, 4- upper middle-income countries and territories1; e) overseas countries an territories (OCTs); f) OECD Member States; h) neighbourhood partner countries, and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
