Deadline: 02-Mar-22
The Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is seeking applications for its Galloper Wind Farm Fund to contribute to the appearance, setting, conservation, amenity, accessibility and enjoyment of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB specifically within the area defined as a 5km radius of Sizewell, the location of the Galloper substation.
The fund is administered by Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB on behalf of Galloper Wind Farm Ltd, which is operated by RWE renewables on behalf of the project partners, and is held by Suffolk County Council. A Panel meets once a year (usually in spring) to assess projects and award grants.
The Galloper Wind Farm Fund Panel includes representatives from Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council and Leiston Town Council.
Funding Information
There is no lower or upper amount for grant requests, but the maximum is likely to be in the region of £2,000 to £2,500 per application. Grants of up to 100% can be awarded towards project costs.
Geographical Area
The geographical area for the Galloper Wind Farm Fund is defined primarily by a 5km radius from Sizewell or up to the high-water mark.
Essential Criteria
The Galloper Wind Farm Fund Panel is particularly keen to encourage projects that are pertinent to its key priorities. Preference will therefore be given to projects that cover one or all of the following:
- Conservation of landscape character and enhance the distinctive nature of the AONB and the Galloper Wind Farm Fund area
- Conservation of biodiversity and lessen fragmentation of habitats
- Conservation of the historic resources of the area including landscapes and the built environment
- Conservation of the geodiversity of the area
- Provision and enhancement of access and recreation provision
- Provision of interpretation that improves understanding, guides behaviour and helps people enjoy the AONB and the Galloper Wind Farm Fund area
Eligibility Criteria
- The Fund is open to organisations or groups from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors from within or outside the AONB, where projects benefit the Fund area
- Whilst applications from individuals are not precluded, there needs to be demonstrable wider public benefit and support for the project. It is expected that in most cases applications will be submitted on behalf of organisations or groups of people
- Applicants need not necessarily come from, or be based in, the AONB. However, projects must further the community, conservation and access objectives of the AONB and they would expect to see evidence of support for the project from the local area
