The Government of Canada is currently seeking proposals for its program “Program of development and adaptation to climate change of irrigated crops in Senegal”.
Outcomes
- Improved socio-economic well-being and resilience of farming households, with a particular emphasis on women and young people.
- Increased socio-economic empowerment of women and young people.
- Sustainable and innovative intensification of irrigated and climate-change‑adapted crops.
- Improved, sustainable and equitable local governance and territorial management of water resources.
Program Priorities
- Preference will be given to proposals that:
- report on consultations with women and girls;
- design an initiative that incorporates their input;
- specify how they, and women’s rights organizations, will be involved in the implementation of the initiative.
- Priority will be given to proposals that fully integrate gender equality issues in their design. This means that gender equality issues raised in the gender comparative analysis will be integrated in the theory of change and are addressed specifically through concrete activities, resources, outcomes and indicators.
- Proposals must also clearly indicate how:
- women and girls have been consulted during the project design;
- the needs voiced and suggestions made by women and girls in these consultations have influenced decisions on the project orientation and design;
- women and girls will be involved in the activities implementation and monitoring, as well as in the project assessment.
Eligibility Criteria
Carefully review the following eligibility screening requirements that we will use to assess submitted application packages for this particular call. To be eligible, you must be able to respond to each requirement and, where stipulated, provide supporting documentation:
- Applicants must be organizations that are legally constituted under the provincial, territorial or federal laws of Canada. Eligible Canadian organizations may form consortiums with other Canadian or non-Canadian organizations, members of civil society, training institutions or the private sector. However, multilateral organizations are excluded from this call for proposals. Preference will be given to projects carried out in partnership with one or more Senegalese organizations.
- In their proposals, applicants must also demonstrate that they have at least three years of experience in results-based management of development projects with a minimum value of $10 million.
Furthermore, in their proposals, applicants must demonstrate that organizations implementing the project have at least three years of experience in all of the following technical fields:- implementing sustainable agricultural development projects;
- implementing socio‑economic empowerment projects that benefit women or young people;
- implementing climate-change adaptation projects.
- Applicants must demonstrate that they have at least three years of experience in one of the above technical fields. For the other required technical fields, applicants may refer to either their own experience or that of one of the partner organizations that will be involved in project implementation.
- Applicants must demonstrate that they have the required experience by referring to examples of successfully completed past projects.
If applicants are unable to respond to any of the above requirements, their organizations are not eligible to apply under this call.
