The Soros Foundation-Moldova has announced a call for proposals for the Grant Program: Activities for Population Affected by TB from at-Risk and Hard to-Reach Groups.
In order to organize the activities planned for 2020 within the Department of Public Health, in accordance with the Plan of activities for the implementation of the consolidated continuation grant for 2018-2020, financed from the resources of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Soros Foundation-Moldova, in its capacity as sub-recipient of financial resources and facilitator for NGOs in the implementation of activities involving the non-governmental sector in the control of tuberculosis (TB), announces an open competition for the collection of funding applications (project proposals) that will contribute to the mobilization for the control of tuberculosis in Balti Municipality.
Through the competition, the Department of Public Health aims to continue funding activities aimed at increasing adherence to TB treatment, ensuring early TB diagnosis and better access to information and education activities for hard-to-reach groups (injecting drug users, sex workers, people living with HIV) in Balti.
The competition will be funded by applications that will include:
- Field activities (outreach) of information, screening, early detection of TB for population groups at high risk of infection and disease TB difficult to access in Balti – injecting drug users, sex workers, people with HIV;
- Support activities on symptoms, TB treatment, adherence to treatment, avoidance of treatment interruptions for TB patients and people in risk groups;
- Social support activities for people with TB at high risk of interruption (involving LPA, multidisciplinary teams, social services, church, informal community leaders, etc., participation in the development of the Accompaniment Plan focused on the needs of TB patients).
The activities are to be implemented in collaboration with the medical institutions / phthisiopneumologist / Community Centers. Confirmation of the collaboration between the NGO and the medical institution can be done through a letter of support or a collaboration agreement. The NGO will collaborate during the implementation of the project with the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team of the National Tuberculosis Control Program (IFP).

Budget available 110,000 MDL.
The funding application will include:
- Critical and documented analysis of the situation in the field of intervention;
- Goals and objectives related to the objectives of the competition;
- Realistic and clear implementation strategy and methods, which will benefit TB patients;
- Coherent and clearly described action plan, which will contribute to ensuring the good implementation and sustainability of the project;
- Realistic and measurable results;
- Risk analysis and mitigation solutions;
- Human resources with appropriate level of qualification and experience for project implementation;
- Project budget correlated with planned activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible to participate in this open grant competition are non-governmental, non-profit non-governmental organizations established in the Republic of Moldova, which are active and have experience working in the field of TB and with vulnerable groups.
