CDC Foundation is now accepting applications for the Southern Alliance 2.0: Addressing COVID-19 Among African American and non-Hispanic Black Communities, Engaging Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for Partnership and Program Development.
Program Areas
Develop or enhance evidence-based programs focused on one or more of the following:
- COVID-19 mitigation (education, interventions, treatment, etc.)
- COVID-19 vaccination (education, navigation, addressing misinformation, etc.)
- Social Determinants of Health (social factors such as access and quality of work, housing, health care, etc.) that impact risk of COVID-19 morbidity, hospitalization, or death).
Priority Subpopulations
- LGBTQIA+
- People of reproductive age.
- Gender, age, or employment specific health considerations.
- Residents in rural or remote communities.
- People with living with comorbidities and disabilities.
- Mental health and social stressors associated with COVID-19 (Faith, Stigma etc.)
Funding Information
CDC Foundation intends to make 7 awards of $200,572 per organization to complete activities.
Priority Geographic Areas
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Washington D.C.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet all the following eligibility criteria:
- Current nonprofit status within operating state.
- Currently prioritize working with the African American and non-Hispanic Black community.
- Currently prioritize working within the areas reflected in this request and within the areas proposed for project activities.
- CBO leadership (organizations’ officers and board leadership) represents the proposed population served (51%).
- Availability to provide services from February 2022 to July 2022.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Current services and activities (51%) are tailored to the African American and non-Hispanic Black community or a subpopulation.
- A minimum of three years of experience in providing community outreach health related services
- Experience providing COVID-19 specific outreach in the African American and non-Hispanic Black community or with the subpopulation identified for the proposed project.
- Experience collaborating with community stakeholders including governmental, faith based, business, schools K-12, and health care stakeholders on public health priorities.
