Deadline: 14-Nov-21
The Australian Government has announced Direct Aid Program (DAP) that focuses on small-scale development projects that can provide direct benefits to those most in need in the local community.
DAP projects cover a range of sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, environmental protection, women’s empowerment and gender equality, supporting people with disabilities, economic livelihoods, food security and human rights.
DAP projects engage a wide range of partners including community groups, non-government organisations, educational institutions and local governments. Through helping people in need they can show Australia is a supportive and trusted partner in addressing aid challenges in partner countries.
Funding Information
- There is no minimum funding that a single DAP project can receive but the maximum is AUD33,000 (approx. JD16,500) for any one project.
- Projects that aim to improve development or humanitarian outcomes in Jordan are eligible to apply for funding.
- Activities can run up to a maximum of two years
Eligible Activities
- Activities are eligible for DAP Support:
Priority Sectors and Target Groups
- The overarching objective of the DAP programme is to advance development outcomes for vulnerable communities. In the context of the COVID-19 crisis, the DAP programme will seek to fill critical gaps in priority development sectors that are inadequately funded through other donor mechanisms. It will do this by providing grants to community-based grass roots organisations.
- There are a number of vulnerable populations in Jordan, so this strategy will not be prescriptive about target communities. Instead, the DAP Committee will look for projects that:
- demonstrate a tangible community need;
- support the rights of the most vulnerable in the context of COVID-19 by focusing on:
- gender based violence and women’s economic empowerment and/or
- human rights;
- target one of the priority groups (women, youth or people with disabilities);
- demonstrate an agility to respond to changing needs, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses; and
- innovate people-centred solutions and generate catalytic change (they have the potential to be sustainable and scalable ).
Eligibility Criteria
- DAP is available on a not-for-profit basis to international and local NGOs, civil society organisations and other community-based organisations engaging in development and human rights activities in Jordan.
