Deadline: Ongoing Opportunity
The Children’s Guild Foundation is inviting applications to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations active in the areas of health care, education, therapeutic recreation and research benefiting differently abled children and their families.
The Children’s Guild Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults with special needs in Western New York through funding support and advocacy programs within healthcare, research, education and therapeutic recreation.
Areas of interest to the Foundation are:
- Developmental Disabilities
- Medical Disabilities
- Learning Disabilities
- Intellectual Disabilities
- Mental Health Issues
Eligible Funding
The Children’s Guild Foundation supports funding for:
- Existing programs and services, including staffing and equipment
- Creation and implementation of new, innovative approaches to issues related to the Foundation’s interests
- Research projects related to the Foundation’s focus areas
- Capital expenditures and/or improvements related directly to an organization’s mission and programs
- Capacity building
Ineligible Funding
- Support is not provided for indirect costs (general & overhead), deficit funding, individual scholarships or fellowships (except within specific programs funded by the Foundation.)
Eligible Projects
- Will have a significant and continuing impact. They are interested in strategies that effect change.
- Will intervene at the appropriate level. They seek to address the causes of problems effecting differently-abled children rather than to simply ameliorate their symptoms.
- Will offer opportunities for leverage. They seek to amplify their resources by forming partnerships with organizations, other funders, public funding sources and the private sector.
- Will be grounded in their community. An important aspect of their mission is to develop models with potential application elsewhere for these children and young adults while keeping Western New York as the geographic focus of their grant making.
- Will be appropriate in relation to the work of other funders. They seek to support work that complements rather than duplicates the efforts of other foundations.
Eligibility Criteria
- They fund only organizations working in the fields related to developmental disabilities, medical disabilities, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities and mental health issues classified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and as public charities under section 509(a) of that code.
- Individuals and for-profit organizations are not eligible for funding.
- Regional Focus
- Since 1910, they have concentrated their efforts and resources in Western New York. Given this focus, they do not consider applications for funding for programs and projects outside of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties in New York State.
