The Women’s Foundation in Georgia announces the grant program “Protection of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights”, which is financially supported by the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU).
The grant program aims to support initiatives aimed at empowering women, girls and the queer community, increasing their knowledge and skills on sexual and reproductive health and rights issues, and changing existing policies, practices, beliefs and attitudes towards these issues, also strengthening and protecting the network work of female human rights defenders working on sexual rights.
Priorities
- The priority areas of the program are:
- Strengthening of women, girls and queer community, promoting networking with their direct participation and leadership;
- Increasing women’s, girls and queer communities access to sexual and reproductive health services, raising awareness, producing and disseminating knowledge;
- Advocacy and lobbying (including gender-sensitive budgetary advocacy), conducting advocacy campaigns with the involvement of various stakeholders (parents, guardians, sexual partners, social workers, police officers, etc.);
- conducting research on sexual and reproductive health and rights;
- raising the sensitivity of decision makers on issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights;
- Ensuring networking with decision makers and service providers;
- Strengthening of public/community monitoring and accountability systems (including budgetary monitoring).
Thematic Areas
- The thematic areas of the program include, but are not limited to:
- access to comprehensive sexuality education;
- access to stigma-free information and services regarding contraception (including emergency contraception);
- access to stigma-free abortion information and services;
- STD prevention and treatment;
- Prevention and subsequent response to sexual, reproductive and gender – based violence;
- Detecting, documenting and responding to cases of violation of sexual and reproductive rights of women, girls and the queer community and facts of discrimination;
- protection of reproductive and sexual rights of those groups who experience several forms of discrimination;
- Empowerment of young women and girls.
Funding Information
- The grant amount is 10,000 Euros.
- Duration: The duration of projects should not exceed 5 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Locally registered women’s and queer non-governmental organizations;
- Organizations working on women’s, girls and queer issues and led by women;
- Women’s and queer organizations whose budget is smaller than the budget of the Women’s Fund;
- Queer and queer organizations from the capital and regions of Georgia, as well as regional or international organizations based in Georgia and operating in Georgia.
- The Women’s Fund will give priority to initiatives of organizations operating in the region.
