Deadline: 28-Sep-23
The Novo Nordisk Foundation is offering grants to support children and young people in vulnerable positions to live a healthier life in Denmark.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation wishes to fight inequities in health among children and youth in Denmark. The purpose of this Open Call is, therefore, to encourage organisations from the health and social sector in Denmark to develop, test, implement, and evaluate interventions that support children and youth in vulnerable positions. The projects should contribute to giving children and youth a better chance for living a healthy life by giving them the tailored stepping-stones they need to do so.
Furthermore, the purpose of the call is to inspire cross-sectoral collaboration. In Denmark, the health and social sector often work in separate silos, and the challenges of children and youth in vulnerable positions are not handled holistically across sectors. The social sector is working tailored with vulnerable groups, and the health sector has vast experience in creating better circumstances for a healthier life for children and youth.
The call is designed to support crosssectoral partnerships taking the best from both worlds to reduce inequity in health. The purpose is to mobilise organisations to work together and to join forces on lifting this difficult task where competencies from both sectors are needed.
Funding Information
- There is a total of up to DKK 25 million for distribution in 2023.
- Grants of between DKK 1,000,000 and 5,000,000 can be applied for efforts with a duration of 1-5 years, starting in the period January-December 2024.
Target Groups
- Children and young people (0-18 years) in vulnerable positions. The projects can work directly with the children and/or with professionals, volunteers or the families around the children or with the frameworks and structures in which they find themselves.
Eligible Projects
- Projects can deal with developing, testing, implementing and/or evaluating initiatives aimed at promoting health among children and young people in vulnerable positions. Health must be understood as physical as well as mental health – and preferably both.
- The project can be an independent, defined project or a clearly defined part of a larger project, which is also supported from another side. In the case of the latter, the entire project, its partners and its total budget must be stated in the application, and it must be made clear which part is being sought for support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
- All projects that apply for support must contain a thorough evaluation plan in order to be able to document impact and learning as well as identify the potential for implementation and scaling. The foundation supports evaluation components which, for example, can be carried out by an external evaluator. The foundation also supports dissemination activities to share knowledge and learning from the project with other players in the field.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-profit organizations and public institutions can apply for support via this announcement. During the grant period, the main applicant must be a manager or project manager in a non-profit organization or a public institution in Denmark. Private companies cannot be the main applicant in this announcement, but can be a collaborative partner in projects.
- All project applications are evaluated on the basis of how they succeed in creating a cross-sector collaboration across, for example, region and municipality, NGO and municipality, research institution and NGO or the like. Therefore, they recommend that you look for collaborations. Any co-applicants or business partners must be listed in the application.
