The Community Foundation has announced a grant program to Support for communities within a 10km radius of the Green Rigg Wind Farm.
Aims
Applicants should demonstrate that their project has community benefit and charitable aims:
- is run by local people for local people and involves users on their management committee,
- engages as many people as possible, ensuring that users have a say in how the project is run,
- meets identified local needs or issues.
Funding Information
- Grants of between £250 and £5,000 are available, with up to £9,000 in exceptional circumstances.
What can be funded?
- Priority will be given to capital items with a tangible, lasting benefit, including improvements to community buildings. Running costs and revenue funding will only be considered in exceptional cases.
- Requests that are charitable, educational, philanthropic and benevolent in purpose.
- Grants to community and voluntary organisations and schools, for non-statutory purposes only.
- Biodiversity and habitat conservation.
- Energy conservation and increased use of renewables.
- Other projects which are community-based and/or community-led.
Eligibility Criteria
- Community and voluntary groups, schools or other such organisations based within ten miles of the Green Rigg Wind Farm. Priority is given to those that benefit residents from within a three-mile radius and from parishes that partly fall within the priority area: Birtley, Corsenside, Kirkwhelpington, Bavington, Chollerton.
